Geocaching

Go on a West Virginia treasure hunt with your GPS.  The wildly popular activity of geocaching will take you on a journey to locations you never would have thought to visit.  With over 50 registered caches found in Upshur County, you’ll have a great excuse to get outside & explore both the countryside and the historic streets of Upshur County!

Hidden containers (called caches) are placed in locations, often historic landmarks or popular locations, and activated.  Once activiated, you can look up the GPS Coordinates on various websites to find the hidden cache.  The fun is in the search!  When you find the cache, you’ll usually find a paper ‘log’ where you can record when you found it, who was with you, etc….  Some caches are large enough to leave small trinkets.  The geocaching rule is you may take a trinket, but must leave something in its place for the next treasure-hunter!

Blackberry Cottage

The Blackberry Cottage at Mountain Paradise is in the woods overlooking a pond in the mountains of West Virginia. All one level, four bedrooms / two baths with an open living area, gas log fireplace, covered deck and an outside fire pit. Just minutes from the Buckhannon River! The cottage is located 10 miles out the Alexander Road in French Creek.

SYCC Flea Market

SYCC will be hosting a Flea Market Saturday, April 20th 8am-5pm. Anyone interested in setting up can reach us at 304-473-0145. Reserve a 10×10 space inside our gym for $25, or outside for $20. Payment must be no later than Monday, April 15.

Opera House

The Opera House is a full-service catering facility & entertainment venue housed in 3 Historic structures, located in the Heart of Historic downtown Buckhannon. In the 1930’s these three separate buildings were connected and opened-up on the 1st floor to accommodate the G.C. Murphy Company 5 & 10 store, which operated here through the 1980’s, before giving in to the big box retailers. We have Transformed the space into a Beautiful Event Center with 100-year old hardwood floors, Coffered Ceilings, Exposed Brick, Colorful Lighting & Stylish Decor. We can seat up to 200-Guests for dinner, have an elevated Stage for entertainment and Stylish Bar to get the Party Going. There is a Green Room off the stage with a full bath, wet bar and make­up table to accommodate everyone’s expectations.
