About the Bluegrass Preserves:
Several years ago Lewis Anderson, at the time a county deputy, began the first bluegrass gathering at the county jail. From the jailhouse, it moved to Lester Kendrick’s music store on Main Street, to an industrial building where Lowes now sits and then it was moved to the Landmark corporate office basement in Lewis County. The group has performed at  several different locations, and are now happy to bring the life of music to the Alton Community Building.

They all learned a lot from the veteran musicians, but what they gained most was friendship that has stood the test of time. Becoming a musician develops pride, confidence, teamwork but most of all deep friendships that transcend age, nationality, politics, religion, wealth or fame. It is all the result of a common interest we value deeply.
