The Upshur County Historical Society presents the Summer 2018 Exhibit: From Whence They Came – Group Migrations to Present Day Upshur County
The newly released exhibit will cover the period of 1770 – 1950, documenting the Native People, Virginia Valley pioneers, New Englanders, African Americans, Southern Irish, Rhineland Germans, German Swiss, Welsh Colony, Belgium glassblowers, Jewish merchants, Asian businessmen and transient railroad, timber and mining workers.
The exhibit is showcased in The History Center Museum, the oldest building on Main Street, constructed in 1856. Visitors will see the building’s historic stained glass windows, an oil painting depicting the Civil War era and sense the monumental atmosphere of the site.
The Summer Exhibit is open Sunday afternoons from 1 PM – 4 PM.
