NEWS RELEASE:
Award winning southern gospel recording artist Mark Lanier set to perform at French Creek UMC
By Sharon Sencindiver
FRENCH CREEK (WV) – Mark Lanier, an award-winning southern gospel recording artist will be performing Saturday evening, August 24, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the French Creek United Methodist Church, church officials have announced.
For decades, Lanier has long been recognized as one of Gospel Music’s most favorite artists. A renowned composer, many of his songs are now known as gospel classics.
“I started singing at the age of four in my church in the small community of Central, AL,” Lanier said.
“My brothers, Jeff and Kevin and I were in the choir while our father directed the music and my mother played the piano.”
Over the years, Lanier has served in several churches as a music minister and youth director. For 27 years, he has traveled throughout the country as an accomplished southern gospel solo artist.
“My life has pretty much been surrounded by my love for music,” said Lanier.
“I have been very blessed throughout my life, in that before stepping out in the gospel music arena, I worked as a cast member and stage manager of Opryland’s Country Music USA and Today’s Country Roads.”
Lanier spent five years singing with the Bibletones, seven years with Perfect Heart, a highly-acclaimed and awarded quartet and the past several years with Poet Voices. During his tenure with Poet Voices, the group received a nomination for a Dove Award and he was a top five nominee for favorite baritone seven years in a row.
“I feel led by God to do even more in my music ministry.” Lanier stated.
“God has graciously led me in a direction destined to sing His songs of praise, but even more so, to be used by God to touch the hearts and lives of others.”
Over the past few years, Lanier’s songwriting talent has taken off and soared to levels he thought were impossible to achieve. He has had his songs recorded by artists like: The Kingsmen, The Nelons, The Florida Boys, Perfect Heart, Down East Boys, The Lesters, James Blackwood, Jake Hess, Poet Voices, Danny Funderburk, Bibletones, Amy Lambert, Jerry Goff, Crossmen, and the Kingdom Heirs.
Lanier has ministered in places like: Scotland, Ireland, England, Canada, The Bahamas, and has sung on TBN, GMT, TNN, ISPN, The National Quartet Convention, and the Bill Gaither Homecoming series. He is listed in the “Achievers” at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
Married to his wife Paula of 35 years, they are the parents to Jacob, 25, and John Mark, 19. The family makes their home in Ball, LA.
“We invite everyone from our community to come out and join us as we worship our Lord Jesus Christ in spirit and song with Mark! There is no cost for admission to this concert, however a love offering will be collected to offset the expenses that Mark has incurred to minister to us in word and song.
