We are pleased to feature: THREE IDENTICAL STRANGERS, 2018, USA, 96 min, PG-13
In 1980, through a series of coincidences, two complete strangers—19-year-olds Robert Shafran and Edward Galland — made the astonishing discovery that they were identical twins. They had been separated at birth, adopted and raised by different families. Even more incredibly, when their story ran in the New York Post another 19 year-old, David Kellman, realized he was their triplet. After an overwhelmingly joyful reunion, they became instant media sensations, were interviewed by Tom Brokaw and Phil Donahue, and even appeared in a movie with Madonna. The brothers’ discovery set in motion a chain of events that, decades later, unearthed an extraordinary and disturbing secret.
“Three Identical Strangers may be non-fiction but it’s structured and composed like the best short story you’ve never heard. And it’s one that definitely proves the dictum that life is stranger than fiction.” – Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com
“So bizarre is the tale that Tim Wardle tells, and so unnervingly mixed are the emotions that it provokes, that the less you know about it beforehand the better.” – Anthony Lane, New Yorker
