We are excited to present the new Christo documentary: WALKING ON WATER, 2019, Germany, 100 min, NR

This film provides an intimate look into the artistic process and personal relationships of Christo, an artist known for his large-scale installations around the globe. For the first time since the passing of his wife and partner, Jeanne-Claude, Christo sets out to realize, The Floating Piers, a project they conceived together many years earlier.

Christo’s lyrical fabric works have inspired local architect Bryson VanNostrand’s architectural designs for many years, such as THE GATES (2005), RUNNING FENCE (1976) and THE UMBRELLAS (1991). As evidence of that influence, we will celebrate the unveiling a new 60-foot-long fabric and steel artwork in Trader’s Alley, directly outside the entrance to LASCAUX MICRO-THEATER, on Saturday, June 29th at 5:00PM. Please come celebrate with us! – Bryson

“Rollicking… Christo strikes a fascinating figure, a tireless, uncompromising artist who thinks his work is, on the one hand, totally useless, but shows childlike joy when things finally work out.” – Mark Peranson, Cinema Scope

“An undeniably enjoyable film, more than anything it was just nice to see the 83-year old artist on the screen once again, like checking in with an old kooky friend.” – Arlin Golden, Film Inquiry

“The artist’s forceful character does battle with technology, bureaucracy, corruption and the elements, resulting in an installation of stunning beauty and a documentary that delights in capturing the act of creation.” – Jay Weissberg, Variety
