MAIDEN currently holds a remarkable 98% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so we hope you can fit this one into your busy schedules!

MAIDEN is the true story of how Tracy Edwards, a 24-year-old charter boat cook, became the skipper of the first ever all-female crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World race in 1989. Tracy’s inspirational dream was opposed on all sides: her male competitors thought an all-women crew would never make it, the chauvinistic yachting press took bets on her failure, and potential sponsors rejected her, fearing they would die at sea and generate bad publicity. However, Tracy and her remarkable crew went on to shock the sport world and prove everyone wrong.

“With stunning archival footage and interviews with the amazing Maiden crew, Holmes captures that high in this stirring documentary that recounts not just the feminist achievement, but triumph of the human spirit.” – Katie Walsh, Tribune News Service

“Talk about a dangerous Hero’s Journey. You ain’t seen nothing till you’ve seen storms out on the freezing black Southern Ocean near Antarctica, with 500-foot water geysers from giant waves caroming off ghostly icebergs in the mist. These women are Heroic.” – Mark Jackson, Epoch Times

“I didn’t expect to be blown away by a documentary on sailing, but there it is.” – Anne Brodie, What She Said
