Summer Isn’t Over

Before we all jump into the Fall Season with pumpkin spice *everything*, let’s savor the end of Summer! We’ve put together some local favorites of how to enjoy those long, hot days while they last!

Nothing is more nostalgic of summer than a swim at the local river – Audra State Park is a Buckhannon favorite for the scenic beauty, natural swimming holes, plus a fantastic place to for families to camp. Reservations can be made online, too!

Use the local trails! The Riverwalk is a popular spot since it’s a simple (and flat) 3 mile loop that has scenes of the Buckhannon River. You’ll always see people walking, running and riding bikes – and often see squirrels, ducks, and birds. For something a bit more strenuous, the Upshur County Trails network is quickly becoming a hot-spot for mountain biking and trail running! And don’t forget about the river trails, either! With multiple access points, the Buckhannon River is perfect for a calm paddle.

A summer day isn’t complete without a meal, and Buckhannon is gaining alot of recognition for some fabulous local eats! Search local restaurants, and try a new place – you won’t be sorry! Events are still in full swing; check our Calendar of Events to find something!

Enjoy Summer while it lasts! ☀️
